Julianne Arvizu grew up in Springfield, IL, where she played varsity basketball, softball and volleyball for Springfield High School. In volleyball, Arvizu was an outside hitter and started her sophomore, junior and senior years. She was co-captain and earned All-City and All-Conference honors her senior year. Julianne attended Northwestern University where she played intramural club volleyball. After a decade living, working and singing in Los Angeles, CA, Julianne relocated back to the Chicago area. She has coached multiple teams in a co-ed, recreational volleyball league for the past 4 years. Every year, her young athletes have played in the championship match for their age group. Arvizu’s teams have won the championship for the past 3 years. In fact, in 2015 and 2016, both of Arvizu’s teams faced each other in the Championship match. Arvizu joined the Velocity coaching staff in 2014 as an Assistant Coach for the 12s Black team. Last year, she was the Head Coach of the 12s Pink Team and assistant for the 13s Black team. This year, Arvizu will act as Assistant Coach for the 14s Black and 12s Black teams. Arvizu is passionate about teaching young athletes the fundamentals of the great sport of volleyball and working to make teams more cohesive and successful.Julianne and her husband Jamie live in Skokie with their 3 children and 2 cats.
